St. Patrick’s Day Door Hanger Craft

Here are the directions to a really simple St. Patrick’s Day Door Hanger Craft made from a paper plate.  It’s easy, economical, and can really be done at the spur of the moment when you have a few minutes to craft with the kids!

What You’ll Need:

  • A Paper Plate
  • Markers
  • Scissors

What to Do:

1. Cut the paper plate to look like a pot with a rainbow coming out of it.  Use the diagram below for clarification.

2. Draw a line to separate the pot from the rainbow for younger children… otherwise they won’t be able to visualize where the pot stops and the rainbow begins.

3. Use markers to color the rainbow and the pot.  You can draw in a shamrock as we did in our example with markers as well.

When they get done coloring, show younger children how to hang their creation on a doorknob.  Even my “bigger” child enjoyed doing this craft at age 7.  This one was a big hit at our house!

If you want to jazz this one up a little bit, try adding some gold glitter or even gluing on some shamrocks cut out of green construction paper!

I have been a brownie, junior leader for 30 plus years and have seen lots of St. Patrick’s Day ideas considering I am Irish but this one is very cute, very easy and can be modified for kids of all ages which I especially like. Thanks for the great idea. Happy St Pasddy’s Day!
