Hand print spiders are a really cute craft for younger kids — parents really love anything with a hand print on it. So I thought I’d add one of those to the Halloween craft list with a few variations you can try.
Hand Print Spider Craft
1. Dip both hands in black paint and print them onto light colored construction paper with the fingers pointed away from each other and heals of the hand touching. No thumbs – spiders only have eight legs. Let dry completely. This will make the basic spider.
2. Cut around the spider carefully, being sure to cut around each of the “legs.”
3. Bend the fingers to make them look more like spider legs.
4. Make a small hole in the center of the spider, push a piece of yarn through the top, and tie a knot to make a hanger.
That’s it! Really easy and the kids love it.
Here’s some other hand print spider craft ideas:
- Print the spider onto construction paper and then draw a spider web around it instead of cutting it out.
- Print the spider onto construction paper and add a little glitter while the paint is still wet — you could do this for the cut out version too!
- Put hand print spiders all over a large piece of butcher paper and use it to create a bulletin board for your school.
- Add wiggle eyes to the spider – kids love wiggle eyes!
- Trace the hands onto black construction paper and cut them out instead of painting.
