Easy Thanksgiving Craft: A Thankful Book

November 19, 2008

I really like the idea of encouraging children to think about the meaning behind Thanksgiving… besides turkey that is.

The idea with this project is to make a Thanksgiving book craft that illustrates all the reasons why your child is thankful. You can make this as elaborate or simple as you want. You don’t even have to “make” the book. You could purchase a small scrapbook, Thanksgiving stickers, etc. and make this a really simple project.

Printable Halloween Skeleton Craft

October 16, 2008

Halloween skeleton craftThe kids and I found this craft while surfing online tonight and we’ve got big plans to make them tomorrow to decorate the house, the kids’ doors, etc.

All the skeleton parts are printable right off the internet, making this one really easy.

You can get complete instructions here… but we’re planning to make some changes.

First of all, we aren’t going to trace the parts onto cardstock. If we decide to use cardstock (I like to use old file folders instead), we’ll just glue the pieces onto the cardstock and then cut the pieces out.

However, I don’t think we’ll bother with any of that. Our plan is to print out all the pieces, cut and color as appropriate, glue the pieces together at the joints, and tape up to a wall, door, window, etc.

Quick, easy, and the kids can do it without assistance!

Easy Pumpkin Light That *Big Kids* Will Enjoy Too!

October 14, 2008

This is a really cute Halloween craft that will appeal to a wide range of children.

Older children can create more detailed painting to make the project more grown up, while younger kids can paint to the best of their abilities.

I can totally see doing these with a scouting group or classroom as well as doing them in preschool.

Top 7 Reasons To Paint Pumpkins

October 9, 2008

painting pumpkinsPumpkins have always been a big deal at our house, even before we had kids. My husband and I used to have contests every year to see who could carve the best pumpkin. I always won. (My husband might have a different opinion about that.) Then one year I took the kids to a local farm where they sold really cute painted pumpkins for $30-$50 per pumpkin. Being a pretty crafty person, I decided that I wanted to try pumpkin painting on my own.
