Make Your Own Fall Leaves Craft

November 20, 2008

Here’s a neat idea that you can actually use with other projects.

In my area, the pretty fall leaves are just about gone… or at least they’re turning brown. Not really the best kind of leaves to use for Thanksgiving centerpieces and projects… so I thought you could actually make your own out of coffee filters!

Easy Thanksgiving Craft: A Thankful Book

November 19, 2008

I really like the idea of encouraging children to think about the meaning behind Thanksgiving… besides turkey that is.

The idea with this project is to make a Thanksgiving book craft that illustrates all the reasons why your child is thankful. You can make this as elaborate or simple as you want. You don’t even have to “make” the book. You could purchase a small scrapbook, Thanksgiving stickers, etc. and make this a really simple project.

Fall is a beautiful time of year with all the leaves are changing colors. Children wonder why it happens, so it’s a great opportunity to use the power of science to show them the separate leaf colors and to explain how the leaves actually change colors.

Printable Halloween Skeleton Craft

October 16, 2008

Halloween skeleton craftThe kids and I found this craft while surfing online tonight and we’ve got big plans to make them tomorrow to decorate the house, the kids’ doors, etc.

All the skeleton parts are printable right off the internet, making this one really easy.

You can get complete instructions here… but we’re planning to make some changes.

First of all, we aren’t going to trace the parts onto cardstock. If we decide to use cardstock (I like to use old file folders instead), we’ll just glue the pieces onto the cardstock and then cut the pieces out.

However, I don’t think we’ll bother with any of that. Our plan is to print out all the pieces, cut and color as appropriate, glue the pieces together at the joints, and tape up to a wall, door, window, etc.

Quick, easy, and the kids can do it without assistance!
