Father’s Day Footprint Poems and Projects

May 29, 2008

Father's Day Footprint Poems and ProjectsA couple of people have asked me for some cute Father’s Day poems to put on cards and gifts, so I did a little research and found these Father’s Day footprint projects.

Next time, I’ll post some handprint poems… but in the meantime, if you’ve come across any cute Father’s Day poems that would go inside cards, let me know and I’ll post them for everyone!

Footprint Projects

For these footprint projects, stamp a large piece of construction paper (the size of the paper depends on the size of the feet) with the child’s foot prints — one on each of the outside edges. Then print one of the poems below in the middle.

Walk A Little Slower Daddy

“Walk a little slower Daddy,”
said a child so small,
“I’m following in your footsteps
and I don’t want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they’re hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.

Someday when I’m all grown up,
You’re what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who’ll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true,
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you.”

Your Little Feet

The pitter patter of little feet,
Leave behind something dear and sweet.
A precious treasure for me to keep,
The memories of your little feet.

These two are my favorite because they aren’t so mushy… my husband likes a little mush, but not as much as I do!

“The footprints you leave behind will influence others.
There is no person who at some time, somewhere, somehow, does not lead another.”
- Author Unknown

“Some people come into our lives and quickly go…
Some stay and make footprints on our hearts…
And we are never, never the same.”
— Author Unknown

Here’s an idea I used last Father’s Day:

My twin daughters were kneeling and praying beside their little beds (back to back). I took the picture and put it in a double matted 4X6 frame. The top frame was their picture praying. On bottom frame I inserted a typed message that read - Thank You God for our Daddy.

He LOVES it. It’s on his nightstand. He said it’s the first thing he sees before bed, and when he starts his day.

I did this for my husband and dad last year. I let my son walk through fabric paint then on the back of a t-shirt (from bottom to top) let it dry then one footprint on the right breast area and wrote in or under “my son/ kids walks all over me” or “my grandson/grandkids walk all over me”

We have a similar thing posted at http://www.freekidcrafts.com/kid_fathers_day_craft_ideas.html

There’s also some other ideas that go along with a T-shirt gift there!

Thank you so much for posting the not so mushy stuff. Some dads go for that, but none that I know.

    Dear Chris,
Thank you for sending me your ideas on craft and downloads of your magazine.

I am writing from Mumbai(Bombay) India. I am a teacher and right now on summer holidays. As I was free I started surfing the net and came across your site and found it interesting.

I would like to learn more ideas from you. Over here we have about 60 children in the class and would prefer if you could send me simpler craft ideas to do with the kids. It would be good.
Thank you for sending me information about phonics.
Thank you once again.I enjoy receiving it.

    Regards,
    Andrea
