Mother’s Day Crafts and Thank You!
April 17, 2008
Before we get to the Mother’s Day crafts, I wanted to thank all of you if made comments on the blog and emailed me privately about homeschooling. It’s a big decision and all your help if very much appreciated!
I know it’s a little early for Mother’s Day crafts, but I thought you might want to start planning out your projects for all those little ones to take home to Mommy. I realize some of you will find this information totally useless because you ARE the Mom, but maybe you can pass the ideas on to Dad to “surprise” you on Mother’s Day. Dad’s can definitely do crafts with the kids too!
Guess How Much I Love You Card - This is a very simple card to make that is guaranteed to get a big smile from Mom. My daughter brought one of these home to me when she was two and I keep it in my scrapbook.
You’ll need 2 sheets of construction paper, a pencil, glue stick, and scissors. Trace each of the child’s hands onto one of the sheets of construction paper. Cut out. Fold the second sheet of construction paper in half like a card. On the outside of the card write, “Guess How Much I Love You…” Glue each of the hands to the inside of the card so that they are facing out. Between the hands write, “I Love You This Much!” Happy Mother’s Day! I made a template for the card, so all you have to do is cut out the hands, print out both sides of the template, color and put together.
Mother’s Day Flower - Cut out a flower stem and leaves from green construction paper and cut out a heart from red. Glue the stem and leaves to a sheet of construction paper (any color you want). Glue the heart to the top of the stem. Dip child’s hand in any flower colored tempera paint and stamp onto a sheet of construction paper at the top of the heart. Write the following poem beside the flower.
A Piece of Me I Give to You
I painted this flower to say “I love you.”
The heart is you.
The hand is me.
To show we are friends,
The best there can be.I hope you will save it
And look back someday
At the flower we shared
On your special day.
Mother’s Day Handprint and Poem - A sweet poem to give to Mom along with a handprint. I made a template for this craft to make it really easy to do. All you have to do is print out the template onto construction paper or cardstock and provide the handprint.

I can’t wait to do these mother day crafts. I am also making one for myself of the cute poem with the one handprint. My second child wasn’t due until Sept 22nd but after spending a month in the hospital he came July 11th. 2lbs 15oz and now being 9 months old and over 15 pounds. Kids don’t stay little for very long and we have to show them one day that look your little hands were this small.
Thank you for all the craft ideas.
Thank you for all the great ideas and crafts. I volunteer doing after school crafts with children JK to grade 3. It is so great to get these great ideas without having to pay for
your ideas. I can get ideas from other websites but they want me to pay for them. Being a senior, I can’t afford to pay . Thanks for all your help. I no the children will have a great time doing all these crafts, especially the mothers day cards.
My eyes teared as I read the poems. I will definately use them in my toddler class for mother’s day. Thanks for the ideas.
I really want to thank you for such great ideas and template you share with us. Thanks a lot!!!!
